R&M presents their comprehensive product portfolio at this year’s SMM
31.08.2010 The R&M Ship Tec Group is taking part in SMM from September 7 to 10, 2010, in Hamburg. SMM is the definitive trade fair for the maritime industry worldwide, presenting everything that the global shipbuilding industry has to offer.
This year, the R&M Ship Tec Group will introduce visitors to their products and services in a unique way: the replica of a ship’s cabin at the fair shows the various building phases on board a ship – from the insulation and installed piping system to air-conditioning and ventilation technology as well as the completed furnishings.

19.08.2010 In July this year, the Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard in Lemwerder built and delivered another pilot station ship using the successful SWATH technology.
Like its predecessor the ELBE, the new pilot station ship, the WESER, was fitted out by Bremen-based R&M Ship Technologies, a turnkey partner in the project.
R&M was responsible for designing and installing the entire interior outfitting, the thermal and acoustic insulation and the fire safety system.

28.04.2010 Sailing around the world using only solar energy? The Knieriem Yachtbau shipyard in Kiel has made it possible. PlanetSolar was launched in April 2010. This modern catamaran is the largest solar-powered boat in the world. Its dimensions are impressive: 31 metres long, 15 metres wide, 7.5 metres high and a solar module area measuring 500 m².
R&M Ship Technologies was one of a select group of companies to commit to this project and rise to the technological challenge. R&M was responsible for insulating the two floats. From 15 to 18 March 2010, R&M Ship Technologies and R&M American Marine Products exhibited at Seatrade Cruise Shipping in Miami, Florida. With over 10,000 visitors and 900 exhibitors, this international conference and exhibition is one of the largest trade fairs serving the cruise industry.
At almost the same time, from 17 to 19 March 2010, R&M Ship Technologies Vietnam participated in the Vietship trade fair in Hanoi, Vietnam. Vietship is the only international exhibition for shipbuilding, marine technology, transport and logistics in Vietnam.

25.02.2010 The R&M Group is strongly positioned for the future. Within the last twelve months R&M engaged altogether 28 new employees for its German branch offices.
The executive board invited the new colleagues to the meanwhile traditional Lambda-Day on 18.-19.02.2010. Lambda-Day combines leisure activities with corporate presentations to give the new colleagues an understanding of the R&M philosophy and to strengthen the team spirit.

Hamburg-based R&M Ship Technologies once again has reason to be proud. In December 2009, R&M successfully completed a large project after over a year of hard work.
The “Dan Swift” – originally built as the cable laying ship “Kraka” – was converted by Blohm + Voss Repair GmbH to become a versatile Accommodation and Support Vessel (ASV).
The ship was completely gutted for the conversion. R&M was responsible for the ship’s entire insulation and interior outfitting. 18.01.2010 LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) is an energy source of the future. Reducing its volume to sixth-hundredths of the original volume, via cooling down to –163°C, enables cost-effective storage and transport of this gas.
Thanks to the already existing expertise in the area of LNG insulation systems, the Research and Development department at R&M Ship Technologies GmbH has been commissioned to develop further insulation systems in cooperation with other companies and research institutes. The storage and transport of gases requires a sophisticated insulation with extremely high system safety.

Dennis Brumm, trainee as Insulation Technician at R&M Ship Technologies in Kiel, has been voted Germany’s best trainee in his age group. This honour follows previous awards as best trainee in Lower Saxony and of the Oldenburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
At the ceremony on 7 December 2009, which took place at the Palais in Berlin and welcomed German President Horst Köhler as well as more than 1,000 guests, Dennis Brumm was honoured with a certificate of achievement as well as an award by Hans-Heinrich Driftmann, President of the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK).

27.11.2009 The MS Oasis of the Seas, a cruise ship in the Royal Caribbean International fleet, has been completed. With a capacity of 6,296 passengers and 2,165 crew, it is the largest cruise ship in the world.
R&M Ship Technologies Finland Oy had overall responsibility both for installation of wet-unit pipework in the passenger cabins and for construction of the ice rink. The rink will mainly be used to host ice-skating shows. As and when the programme changes, it converts into a venue for dance and stage performances quickly and automatically. This versatile function room has capacity for more than 800 spectators.

R&M American Marine Products will exhibit at the International WorkBoat Show in New Orleans, LA December 2nd through 4th. The International WorkBoat show is the largest commercial marine tradeshow in North America serving people and businesses working on the coastal, inland and offshore waters. 1,000 companies will display products and services for commercial vessels and the companies that build, service and operate them.
R&M American Marine Products will be meeting with some of the largest joiner and offshore companies in North America while at the show and is looking forward to increasing the visibility of the company through this high profile event.

29.09.2009 From 22 to 25 September 2009, the R&M Ship Tec Group participated in NEVA, the International Shipping, Shipbuilding and Offshore Energy Exhibition, which took place at the Lenexpo Exhibition Center in St Petersburg, Russia.
With representatives from Russia, Germany and Norway, R&M was able to secure an international presence and, as a result, comprehensively demonstrate the Group’s entire range of services.
Both the prefabricated cabin, which visitors could view and, at the same time, served as a conference room, as well as the wet unit on exhibit attracted many experts to the stand – inspiring them to discover even more about our products.

15.09.2009 The R&M Ship Tec Group will be exhibiting at NEVA 2009, the 10th International Shipping, Shipbuilding and Offshore Energy Exhibition, which will be held in the Lenexpo Exhibition Center in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The R&M Group will be presenting its ship interior and offshore products to the trade public, with around 25,000 visitors expected to attend the industry event.
Among the exhibits at R&M’s stand will be a completely outfitted prefabricated cabin and a wet unit.

With effect from 1 September 2009, J. Bryan Bowles has taken over as President of the US companies R&M Ship Technologies USA and R&M American Marine Products.
By assuming responsibility for both American companies from CEO Joachim Buttke, JB Bowles is taking a further step toward establishing the autonomy of the American units.
Bowles' initial tasks will include developing the local production of furnishing components along with material assembly operations. The US staff have been specially trained for this task by our partner organization HETA (Hernando Education and Training Association).

Silver Cloud, a yacht built at the Abeking & Rasmussen yard in 2008 in SWATH design, was honoured on May 16, 2009 with the World Super Yacht Technology Award. The vessel’s design and progressive technology ensure a stable position in the water, even in rough seas.
The award is particularly pleasing to R&M, because R&M has made a major contribution to this outstanding vessel, with installation and assembly of insulation and high-quality interior fittings.
R&M congratulates Abeking & Rasmussen warmly on this award, and wishes the owner every success and full enjoyment of this outstanding vessel.
| | New order for R&M – fitting out a 60 metre yacht
20.07.2009 A further 60 metre yacht is planned for 2009 by Abeking & Rasmussen, a boat builder located in Bremen. This yacht will differ from previously built vessels of this length, in that it will be one deck higher and also correspondingly wider, so it is a new ship type.
R&M Ship Technologies GmbH has been awarded the contract for delivery and assembly of the walls of the guest and crew area, cladding with decorative surfaces, and deck sub-structures in both these areas. The walls and deck sub-structures will be made of aluminium and come from own production in Rostock. 15.07.2009 R&M Ship Technologies in Hamburg opened another Competence Center on 1 July 2009, adding to R&M’s broad range of products the installation of HVAC – Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning – on ships of all kinds.
The new Competence Center will be headed by Jan Widera. He has joined R&M after many years of experience in new building and repair of yachts and special-purpose vessels.

09.07.2009 On the 1st of June Andy Mancone joined R&M American Marine Products.
Andy Mancone attended Penn State University’s electrical engineering school with a concentration in telecommunications engineering. He has managed commercial and government business segments specializing in Federal, State, Local and Export markets.
He is already on the road meeting with potential customers and will be an asset to R&M‘s American company. We welcome Andy aboard and wish him much success in our company.

From 24-28 June 2009, R&M Ship Technologies Russia OOO, a company of the R&M Ship Tec Group based in St. Petersburg, took part in the International Maritime Defence Show (IMDS) in St. Petersburg.
The trade show gave Russian and international companies information on innovations in various areas, such as naval and merchant ship building, radio electronics, and software for navigation and meteorology.
R&M exhibits of own product range included Submat TM submarine insulation material, wall and ceiling systems, panels and lightweight furniture.

The Diedrich shipyard has every reason to be pleased – the wind farm service vessel “Wind Force I” commissioned by AG Reederei Norden Frisia, successfully completed its trials on 25 June 2009, following her christening on 27 Mai 2009.
This specialist vessel Wind Force I is an aluminium catamaran, with length overall 21 metres, and space for 26 passengers. Wind Force I is the first newbuilding for nearly ten years to be built at this yard, which otherwise specialises in repairs.
That is also good reason for R&M to be proud – as the contractor for internal fittings, R&M is responsible for all aspects of insulation and interior work.

22.06.2009 Sergey Chizhov joined R&M Ship Technologies Russia OOO, a member of the R&M Ship Tec Group, on 27 April 2009, as the new Manager Marketing & Sales.
Sergey Chizhov took his degree in hydrobiology and economics, and has in recent years gained a great deal of experience in maritime electronics for merchant and fishing vessels, as Director of various Russian and international companies.
His main responsibilities include establishment of R&M Ship Technologies Russia in the Russian market.

| | Successful development of the Brooksville production
09.04.2009 After starting the production of wall panels in January, 2009, R&M American Marine Products Inc. continues with widening the range of products and planning of additional production lines for the American market.
We are able to offer the B-0, B-15, A-0 and A-15 rated wall panels produced in Brooksville in addition to the well known scope of products produced in Germany.
The next step will be to begin production of A-60 flooring systems, and to finalize the development of our lightweight ceiling system. Added to our existing product line, the system will be produced exclusively in our Brooksville facility for worldwide distribution.

09.04.2009 From March 16-19th, R&M Ship Technologies, along with its Cruise & Ferry Competence team, participated in another year in Seatrade Cruise Shipping Miami. This exhibition is one of the largest in the industry, targeting the Cruise Line Business.
Also in attendance were managers of R&M American Marine Products Inc., the new production facility in Brooksville, Florida.
The response regarding R&M’s upcoming projects, and the new facility in the USA was positive. Discussions with other people in the industry showed great interest in the company.

On March 16, 2009 Mr. Patrick Rodust began his role as the Director of Controlling for R&M Ship Tec Group.
Patrick Rodust has achieved his Master’s degree in Business and Engineering and has an expertise in Controlling, which he gained in various industrial sectors.
His responsibilities include the development of reporting, as well as redesigning the Company’s planning and management concepts.

04.03.2009 R&M Ship Technologies Finland Oy proudly looks back on a successful year in 2008. Beginning with the first installation works in 2007, through the 2008 year-end, all targets set forth upon the inception of the company were achieved.
The Executive Board and Project Management staff collaborated their efforts and grew into well attuned 13-member team. Within the coming months, the team will be reinforced by a Commercial Director and Project Controller.
At this point in time, five installation specialists, and 58 of our partner’s employees work together to provide the guarantee of quality and sophistication that defines R&M’s ship outfitting.
